Nanyuki, Kenya

Nanyuki is a frontier town in central Kenya, lying west of Mount Kenya. Nanyuki was founded by British settlers in 1907 and still has a British Army camp. Nanyuki is also visited by climbers and backpackers on their way to and from Mount Kenya.

A 'Speed Taxi' is a Peugeot station wagon that is used as public transportation in Kenya.  Speed Taxis are the prefered way to travel to the capital city, Nairobi.  As you can see, four people will have to share a seat that should seat only three.

hi great photos i've been there several times my mother retired   there 12 years ago marinas cafe also mountain rock camel corner and the great trout tree up the road good places to eat the sportsman a good bar pleased to see you enjoyed it there of for 3 weeks holiday next week i'm 6ft 4 so could never get into a speed taxi (martatu) probably not the correct spelling good luck in life
